American Legion Post 214 and the Palo Cedro Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to give Palo Cedro a patriotic look on military commemoration days and national holidays beginning with Flag Day on June 14, 2010.
Any Palo Cedro business owner or community member who would like to sponsor a flag may contract with the American Legion for $35 per year, and the Legion will furnish a three-by-five foot flag, pole and mounting bracket. Members will post the flags on telephone poles along Deschutes Road early in the day and take them down before dusk. Flags will not be posted in the rain.
In addition to Flag Day, expect to see Old Glory flying in Palo Cedro on the following days: Independence Day; POW/MIA Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Pearl Harbor Day, Presidents’ Day, Armed Forces Day, and Memorial Day.
The American Legion is also planning to post the flags during Palo Cedro’s special celebrations such as the Honey Bee Festival and the Chamber’s Show N Shine.
